Pune has got many religious centers which has got religious and historical importance. Here are some of the major religious centers in Pune you should visit. Kasba Ganpati - Kasba Ganapati is the village God of Pune. He is considered as the Ganpati of feast Honor in Pune. So this temple has got the first preference in Ganapati festivals.The statue of Ganesh at this temple was placed by Jijabai, the mother of Chh. Shivaji Maharaj. Bhimashankar - One of the five Jyotirlingas in maharashtra is situated here and river Bhima originates from here.The temple of Lord Mahadeva was built here by Nana Phadanavis. It is also a wild life sanctuary and reserved forest area where we can see a wide variety of animals, birds and plants. Baneshwar - This is a beautiful place situated in south Pune. It has an old temple of Lord Shiva, which was built by Bajirao Peshwa-I. The surroundings of temple is full of deep woods and looks like forest. The idols of Lord Vishnu, Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Mahadeva are in the temple. It has also got a beautiful waterfall and garden which attracts tourists also. Jejuri - The ancient temple of Lord Khandoba is located at Jejuri. We have to climb 200 steps to reach the temple. It has also got historical importance since Shivaji had discussed the strategy for war against Mughals here. Alandi – This place is popularly known as God's Place and has the Samadhi and a temple of the saint poet Dnyaneshwar. Saint Dnyaneshwar was the one who transilated Bhagvat Geeta in Marathi. Alandi also has other famous temples like Ram temple and Krishna temple.
